Redehall Housing Development

Planning consent has been obtained by FORMstudio for this new housing development on a brownfield site within the Surrey green belt.

Grouped around a carefully landscaped entry square/courtyard, the brick-faced buildings follow the Surrey tradition, with simple linear pitched roofs with gable ends and relatively low eaves. The relationship between them being carefully managed to avoid overlooking whilst creating the sense of a settlement grouped around the entry courtyard with areas of closer proximity and relative containment for the pedestrian access paths and private front gardens.

Rather than follow the more usual ‘developer solution’ of randomly placed individual houses around an access road, the intention here is to create a complete architectural composition in which as much focus is given to the spaces and quality of the landscaping between the buildings as to the buildings themselves, creating a distinct and more complete sense of place. The project is currently under construction.
